St James The Great Church

St. James the Great

A church in its place, taking care of its family

About Us

Our Community

We are home to a diverse and multicultural congregation. The Parish has a BAME majority community with almost half of the population born outside England; more than 89 languages are spoken here.

Our Tradition

We are a faithful church in the Open Catholic tradition; an inclusive church where everyone is welcome. We love our music both in our regular services and in community concerts.

Our Values

We are confident in speaking the Gospel of Jesus Christ, compassionate in serving communities with the love of God the Father, and creative in reaching new people and places.

Our Heritage

Consecrated in 1841, our Grade II listed building features beautiful architecture and stained glass. We are good at hospitality, welcoming and valuing all people.
